What Does a Roof Repair Cost?

BLOG-roof-repair-costs-01

If you are considering hiring a roofing contractor to repair your roof, it will most likely be an urgent issue and needs to be attended to as quickly as possible. Putting off roof repair may further damage your roof and end up costing you more in the end. Whether you feel as though you are in need of repair after a heavy storm and there are leaks in your attic, the cost is sure to be one of the first things on your mind.

Check Your Insurance Policy

Your homeowners insurance may cover the costs for your roof repair. There are many different policies that cover a variety of things concerning the damage sustained to your roof. You will have to check with your insurance agent to find out what will and what will not be covered. Depending on what your policy consists of, you will most likely receive either the replacement value or cash value for the repairs needed.

Uncovered Losses

There are some cases where roofing just wears out over time, or was damaged as a result of what an insurance company would consider a “preventable loss.” If this is the case, 100% of the cost of roof repair will need to be covered by the homeowner.

Useable Warranties

A current warranty may or may not help cover the cost due to certain stipulations written in the contract. If it is a manufacturer’s warranty, you will need to know the conditions and if the manufacturer’s warranty will apply to your situation. Also note that there are some warranties that will be voided because of repairs that have been done by someone else.

Is the Investment Worth It?

At times roof replacement might be the best option, versus repair. Your roof may have expired manufactured shingles or experienced severe damage. In these cases, a roof replacement is the most cost effective choice. A new roofing system, new warranty, and increased curb appeal are all benefits of roof replacement.
